Updated Heisman Odds: Baker Mayfield is Your New Favorite

For the first time since mid-September, Saquon Barkley is not the front-runner in the Heisman race. In the most recently released odds at BetOnline, Barkley came in at +200, making way for the new favorite: Baker Mayfield.

Given Mayfield’s odds last week (+1000), his position atop this list may come as a surprise. But look at his numbers from Saturday’s win at Oklahoma State and all will be clear.

Baker broke the Oklahoma school record for passing yards in a game, throwing for 598 yards and 5 touchdowns in the win. He also added another touchdown on the ground to complete his absolutely ridiculous stat line. His Heisman chances also benefited from another subpar performance out of Saquon Barkley. Barkley failed to find the end zone in Penn State’s loss to Michigan State, and for the second straight week he did not eclipse 100 combined rushing and receiving yards.

Beyond the top two, only Bryce Love (+1200) has odds shorter than 25/1. In fact, only six players in total were given odds to win the award this week. With J.T. Barrett and Mason Rudolph suffering losses, both saw their Heisman chances, as well as their teams’ playoff chances, dwindle.
