NCAA Football Opening Line Report – 9/20/2010

This week’s NCAA games started opening just before 7:00 p.m. Sunday and continued through early Monday morning. We have taken a look at the opening lines, as well as the early market percentages from our betting trends data, and have found a few games with some interesting early movement. We have broken them down for you in today’s NCAA Football Opening Line Report.

Early Line Moves of Interest:

1. Central Michigan Chippewas vs. Northwestern Wildcats

CRIS was the first to open this line at 6:52 p.m. at -10 on Northwestern Sunday, and has steadily dropped over night to -7. During that time our market percentages had the public split on this game, but as the bets pile up for this game Northwestern is gaining a slight edge. We have one early Steam Move on Central Michigan, which came in at 2:47 p.m. this afternoon.

2. USC Trojans vs. Washington State Cougars

USC opened at -24 Sunday night at 7:38 p.m. at Olympic. The line stayed pretty much at the open until noon today, when the line started to drop despite a slight public favorite in the USC Torjans. Now sitting at -21.5 with a split public the line seems to have settled down for now.

3. Southern Miss Golden Eagles vs. Louisiana Tech Bulldogs

CRIS opened this line at -5.5 for the Golden Eagles at 5:52 p.m. on Sunday, and moved down to -5 three minutes later before bouncing back up to -5.5 seven minutes after that. The line dropped to -4.5 late Sunday night. Our market percentages have 70% of the public betting on spread bets taking the Golden Eagles based on a good amount of early bets. ABC (15-10, +3.64) triggered a Smart Money play today at 4:18 p.m.

4. North Texas Mean Green vs. Florida Atlantic Owls

There has been some big line movement early on this game. BetFair was the first book to open it at -5.5 for Florida Atlantic at 6:29 p.m. Sunday, and with 72% of the public taking them in spread bets the line has moved to -8 since early this morning. This movement has triggered two of our system plays on this game, but no plays with positive units won as of yet.
