NFL Week 15 Opening Line Report

NFL Week 15 Opening Line Report

Week 14 concludes tonight with the Giants and Dolphins facing off in Miami, and it’s New York getting the bulk of bets as a small favorite. This past weekend was highlighted by the Panthers’ continued undefeated streak, the Raiders upsetting the Broncos in Denver, and the wide open AFC South with the Jaguars crushing the Colts.

Week 15 will open up on Thursday once again, but we also get the rare late-season Saturday game between the Jets and Cowboys. Below we’ve compared the current and opening lines at Pinnacle to lookahead lines from CG Technology:

The biggest discrepancies from months ago include the Bucs (+8 to pk), Jets (+7.5 to -3), and Chiefs (+3.5 to -7.5).

As for odds moving off the openers from Sunday, the most significant is the Packers going from -2.5 to -3 at Oakland. The Raiders are coming off a big road win in Denver while the Packers may have found themselves (or at least Eddie Lacy) last week against the floundering Cowboys. Early bettors are all over Green Bay with 86% of spread bets and it would be difficult to envision this line dropping back below -3 since sharps will likely come back in and bet Green Bay at -2.5 if it does.

Another key matchup this week is the Broncos visiting the Steelers. Before the year Pittsburgh was listed as just a 1-point favorite but now it doesn’t appear that even Denver’s defense could stop Pittsburgh. Pinnacle opened the Steelers -6.5 but have dropped them to -5.5 where the line has currently settled around the market. This game will likely see some pretty even betting as both teams are usually public darlings and this line will sure to be on the move throughout the week.
