Indians Extend AL-Record Win Streak to 22 Games

On Thursday night, the Cleveland Indians were down to their final strike in the bottom of the 9th, down 2-1 to the Royals. That’s when Francisco Lindor hit an opposite field RBI double to tie the game 2-2 before Jay Bruce walked-off KC in the bottom of the 10th inning. The victory extended the Indians’ AL-record win streak to 22 games, and Cleveland reached +403 on the live moneyline before coming back. Sharp money was on KC to end the streak, but Cleveland somehow found a way to win again. They’ve now outscored opponents 137-34 during the epic streak.

Bettors have surely been paying attention, and Thursday night’s game received nearly twice as many betting tickets as any other MLB game on the slate. However, Cleveland closed with just 55% of tickets despite being big favorites. The public, along with sharps, felt the streak would come to an end.

On Friday night, we’re seeing very similar betting patterns– Cleveland opened -230 at Pinnacle but have been bet down to -208. The Indians are getting 57% of tickets but just 40% of the money, indicating that bigger/sharper money is on the Royals again. Here’s a look at line movement and betting data on the Royals:

Friday night’s game is getting nearly twice as many tickets as any other game on the board, just like Thursday night. Bettors and fans are captivated by the playoff atmosphere surrounding the win streak. Are you betting on the Royals to end the streak, or taking the Indians to extend it to 23?
