Early Bettors Fading Hurricanes At Home Again

Within a couple minutes of opening at BetOnline Sunday night, early tickets moved the third-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish from -1.5 to -4 at seventh-ranked Miami Florida. The Hurricanes are coming off a 28-10 win over Virginia Tech at home, a game in which they never trailed. Last week they opened -3.5 and moved to +2.5 against the Hokies before late sharp money was all over Miami, closing at -3.

The Irish are coming off another comfortable win over an ACC team, a 48-37 win vs. Wake Forest. Notre Dame had a big lead in the 2nd half before allowing a couple late TD’s as the Demon Deacons were able to cover +15.

Later Sunday night, sharper books like Bookmaker and Pinnacle opened Notre Dame -2.5 and quickly moved to -3, where most of the market currently sits. BetOnline did end up adjusting their odds from ND -4 to -3, so they were either reacting to the rest of the market or they took some money on Miami at +4 and +3.5 to drop the line.

Nearly 80% of very early bets and 90% of money is coming in on the Irish to cover on the road. Sharper bettors may be waiting to pounce on Miami +3.5 and +4 again if they reach that threshold.
