2016 NFL Week 4 Opening Line Report

2016 NFL Week 4 Opening Line Report

Week 4 will be the week of beginnings. It is the start of the bye weeks and the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles will be the first two teams to receive some additional rest.

For the 10th straight season, NFL teams will play regular season games in London. On Sunday, the Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars will meet in the first of three games in London. Since NFL teams began playing at Wembley in 2007, favorites have gone 9-5 ATS with +3.62 units won. Currently, the Colts are 2.5-point favorites.

Below are all of the opening and current lines for Week 4 from Bookmaker compared to the lookahead lines that CG Technology posted back in April.

The biggest discrepancy between the lookahead lines and the current lines is in the Detroit-Chicago game. In April, the Bears were -1.5, but they have since fallen to +3 thanks largely to Jay Cutler’s hand injury.

Good news for Steelers fans: star running back Le’Veon Bell returns after serving his three-game suspension. Meanwhile, a trio of wide receivers — Michael Floyd (concussion), Sammy Watkins (ankle), and Dez Bryant (knee) — suffered injuries last week. Losing Bryant, Dallas’ franchise receiver, would be a huge loss for Jerry Jones’ club, who already have a thin receiving core. Even with Bryant questionable to play Sunday at San Francisco, the Cowboys remain three-point favorites.

Bookmaker and several other sportsbooks have not posted lines for Buffalo/New England and Seattle/New York Jets games likely due to uncertainty at the quarterback position. In their final week without Tom Brady, it is still uncertain who will start at quarterback for the Patriots after third-stringer Jacoby Brissett injured his thumb. Russell Wilson has a MCL sprain in his left knee, but he is expected play.
