Updated Super Bowl Odds: NFC is Wide Open Following Wentz Injury

As if we needed more uncertainty in the NFC, Carson Wentz’s ACL tear has opened all kinds of doors for the other conference contenders. Both the Saints and Rams saw their Super Bowl odds increase despite losses in Week 14, which leads me to my broken record sentence each week:

The top five NFC teams by Super Bowl odds all now lie between 8/1 and 14/1.

To put that in perspective, the same group of AFC teams would bring you from 2/1 to 30/1. Here’s where every team stands following Sunday’s Week 14 games.

New England unsurprisingly remains at the top of the list heading into tonight’s matchup in Miami. As 10.5-point favorites, a win shouldn’t change the Patriots’ odds much thanks to Pittsburgh’s victory last night, but the Pats and Steelers will meet in Week 15 to determine the top seed in the AFC. New England is currently a 3-point road favorite at Westgate.

Elsewhere in the AFC, the Chargers are quickly making their way up the odds ladder. After their fourth straight win, L.A. is now listed at 18/1 after being all the way down at 200/1 just a month ago.

After a huge jump last week, the Packers remained at +4000 following an overtime win in Cleveland. Green Bay is now 7-6, but their lack of an odds change likely stems from the uncertainty of Aaron Rodgers’ status.

It should also be noted that even if Rodgers is able to come back, Green Bay’s best case is a 10-6 finish. In this year’s NFC, that might not earn a playoff berth.
