Both Michigan and Minnesota received <40% of spread tickets in their quarterfinal matchups but both got big wins to advance to the semifinals. The #8-seeded Wolverines actually opened -3 against the #4-seeded Golden Gophers, and sharp money has taken a side in this one.
Most of the market opened Michigan -3, including sharp books like CRIS, Pinnacle, and 5Dimes. Initially the early bets were on Michigan which moved the line to -3.5 but then the betting percentages evened out. Even despite bets starting to come in on Minnesota, the line continued to climb to -4, and even to -4.5. The line graph below shows how odds have moved behind sharper money:
Our newly added money percentages tell us that 71% of the spread money is on Michigan, which has helped move the line from -3 to -4.5 since opening. It should also be noted that the Gophers will be without one of their top players Akeem Springs.
As you can see from the individual breakdowns, the moneyline tickets are also nearly even but most of the moneyline dollars have come in on Michigan.
