Odds on Next Head Coach of the Florida Gators

Odds on Next Head Coach of the Florida Gators

Following Florida’s 42-7 loss against Georgia, the Gators decided to part ways with head coach Jim McElwain. He led Florida to back-to-back SEC East titles going 22-12 in 2+ seasons, but the team has struggled this year both on and off the field.

It was still a surprise to see McElwain as the first head coach to be fired in the SEC this year, especially since other SEC schools like Tennessee and Texas A&M are struggling as well.

On Halloween morning, BetOnline posted odds on the next head coach of the Gators and Dan Mullen was the +350 favorite. Of course, there are guys on the list like Tim Tebow and Steve Spurrier designed to attract public wagers:

Since odds opened, Scott Frost has leapfrogged to the -150 favorite. We’ve also seen odds drop on Lane Kiffin (50/1 to 20/1), as well as the bigger longshots like Tebow (300/1 to 50/1), Meyer (200/1 to 50/1) and Spurrier (200/1 to 50/1).

There are plenty of viable candidates on the list and a lot that make sense– does anyone catch your eye right now? There’s no ‘field’ option, so if someone not on the list ends up getting the job, then all wagers are refunded.
