NFL Week 7 Opening Line Report

NFL Week 7 Opening Line Report

We’re six weeks into the NFL season and this week we’re coming to preview the early lines for Week 7. The table below shows the look ahead lines from April via CG Technology compared to the opening and current odds at Pinnacle. Each week we’ll examine the biggest moves and analyze how oddsmakers’ expectations have changed since the offseason.

There have already been two teams who have moved 1.5-points since these lines opened on Sunday night: New York Jets (+10 to +8.5 at New England) and Seattle (-4.5 to -6 at San Francisco). The Jets line is particularly interesting because +8.5 is the same spread that CG Technology posted before the start of the season. Although the Jets have greatly exceeded their preseason expectations, so have the Patriots.

There are still two games off the board at the time of publication: Pittsburgh/Kansas City and Atlanta/Tennessee. Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger and Titans QB Marcus Mariota are both listed as questionable with knee injuries. Pittsburgh backup Michael Vick (Hamstring) is listed as doubtful which means that Landry Jones would get the nod if Big Ben is unable to go. If Mariota can’t play, second year signal caller Zach Mettenberger would get the start.

Another interesting line is the NFC North showdown between Minnesota and Detroit. Before the season the Lions were listed as 5-point favorites but, after an underwhelming start to the season, they opened as 2.5-point underdogs at Pinnacle.

Similarly, the Cardinals were listed as just 2-point favorites against Baltimore back in April. When Pinnacle opened their lines on Sunday evening, Arizona was listed as a 7.5-point favorite.

Bettors should also closely monitor the Bills/Jaguars game in London. Buffalo is listed as a 4.5-point favorite even though starting QB Tyrod Taylor (Knee) is listed as questionable after missing last week’s game. If he’s unable to play, EJ Manuel would get his second straight start. Last week Manuel passed for 263 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception in a 13-point loss to Cincy.

These numbers are subject to change throughout the week, so bettors should be sure to bookmark our free NFL odds page for updates lines, betting trends, injuries, futures and more.
