NFL Week 10 Opening Line Report

NFL Week 10 Opening Line Report

We’re nine weeks into the season and it’s the first time ever that 3 different teams have started 8-0: Patriots, Bengals, and Panthers.

There were a number of key injuries suffered this past weekend, most notably Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger and Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater. Roethlisberger will definitely be out for Week 10 with a foot sprain, but Bridgewater is listed as questionable with a concussion.

The table below shows the opening and current odds from Pinnacle, as well as lookahead lines from CG Technology back in April:

ARZ at SEASEA -3SEA -3SEA -5.5
HOU at CINCIN -10.5CIN -11CIN -4

As we get later in the season, it makes sense that current lines are further off from lookahead lines. Most glaring this week are Green Bay (-5 to -11.5), Tampa Bay (+4.5 to -2), Cincinnati (-4 to -10.5) and New England (-1.5 to -7.5).

Out of all the games on the board, the only consistent line from April to now is the Saints as a pick ’em at the Redskins. New Orleans has taken a step back and is coming off a bad home loss to the Titans but public bettors don’t seem to care. New Orleans is receiving the most support this week, getting 83% of early spread bets in the most bet game of the week. A big reason for this is that the Redskins are still the Redskins and people don’t want to bet on them, but there may be some great contrarian value on Washington this week.

Sportsbooks are waiting to set a line on Minnesota/Oakland due to QB Teddy Bridgewater’s questionable status.
