Chiefs-Raiders Odds: KC Opens as Largest Road Favorite Since 2007

The Kansas City Chiefs are good, the Oakland Raiders are not. I know, not exactly breaking news for NFL fans and bettors.

That disparity has led to an eye-opening point spread in the two teams’ Week 13 NFL game.

Kansas City opened -15.5 at Pinnacle, which is the sportsbook that powers our Bet Labs database of historical betting information.

In terms of opening lines, that makes the Chiefs the largest road favorites in the Bet Labs database (which begins with the 2003 NFL season) since a Dec. 3, 2007 game between the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens.

In that game, New England opened as a 20.5-point road favorite before closing at -19. The Patriots won the game, 27-24, but failed to cover the historic spread.

Early NFL Week 13 bettors aren’t concerned about laying the massive number either, as 77% of tickets and 98% of dollars wagered on the spread are taking Kansas City.

Should the Chiefs close at -15.5, they’d tie for the third-largest road favorites in the Bet Labs database, trailing the aforementioned 2007 game between the Patriots and Ravens and an Oct. 9, 2005, matchup in which the Indianapolis Colts closed as 16-point favorites at the San Francisco 49ers.
