Carson Wentz Biggest MVP Favorite to Date

Another week, another man down in the MVP race. DeShaun Watson had forced himself into the MVP conversation with his stellar play, but alas, every good player has to have a season ending injury. Just the way the NFL works, folks. He had been 10/1 at this time last week.

With Watson out of the running, Alex Smith and the Chiefs losing, and Tom Brady on a bye week, Carson Wentz pounced on the opportunity to take the lead in the MVP race.

Though Wentz’s numbers are slightly worse than Brady and Smith’s in most statistical categories, he’s led the Eagles to a league-best 8-1 record. Can’t put a price on that, can you. Philly was expected to be a run-of-the-mill team, but Wentz’s sophomoric superstardom has allowed the Eagles to move from 40/1 to 4/1 to win the Super Bowl through just nine weeks.

At even odds, Wentz is now the biggest favorite we have seen this season. Aaron Rodgers had moved to +150 the week after his last-minute drive in Dallas, but that didn’t last long, unfortunately.

Never sleep on Tom Brady, though. He’s on pace for a casual 5,000 yard, four interception season. Not too shabby. No other 5,000 yard passer has ever accomplished the feat with less than 10 picks.

Do sleep on Alex Smith. He still hasn’t really collapsed and has great numbers, but his odds will continue to slip down the stretch. Trust me.

One new name listed is Jared Goff. If Watson wasn’t hurt, there’d be three quarterbacks in the MVP race that the Browns failed to draft the past two seasons.

Nice job, morons! I guess hiring Jonah Hill from Moneyball doesn’t work in the NFL. Here’s a strategy for you: GET A GOOD QUARTERBACK.

Anywho, back to Goff. His statistics aren’t as eye popping as some of the top names, but he’s essentially top-10 in every key passing statistic. The Rams are one of, if not the biggest surprise on the season and Goff is a big reason why. If they can win their division over the Seahawks, Goff will surely be in the MVP conversation.

I'm the guy who does his job. You must be the other guy.
