Bettors Leveraging High-Scoring Offenses to Pinpoint Over/Under Value
The Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles are tied for the league lead in points scored, both averaging 30.1 ppg. With these two teams facing off in Week 14, oddsmakers opened this total at 51, the highest among the weekend slate of games. While the storylines surrounding these teams, like Carson Wentz as an MVP candidate, Jared Goff’s development and Jeff Fisher’s overall ineptitude, mostly revolve around the offensive side of the ball, the betting market is putting money on the defenses this weekend.
Since opening at 51, the total has been bet down to 48 at Pinnacle, tied for the largest over/under line move (in terms of raw points) of Week 14.
Public bettors will likely see this total and jump on the over as they enter the market over the weekend, however, with the number hovering at the key range of 47-48, it’ll be interesting to monitor how sharper players react and position themselves following the early line movement.
DFS players should also keep a very close eye on this matchup as the Rams and Eagles are the top two teams in Vegas Plus/Minus, according to Fantasy Labs’ Matthew Freedman.
