Golf – After the opening round at the PGA Championship, Kevin Chappell shares the lead at -6 with Lee Westwood and Ryan Palmer. There’s also a logjam at -5 including Jim Furyk, Edoardo Molinari, Henrik Stenseon, Chris Wood, and the favorite Rory McIlroy.

– With Dustin Johnson and Matt Kuchar already withdrawn, Jason Dufner (last year’s PGA Championship winner) was forced to withdraw with a back injury. All three had opening odds of 35:1 or better to win this major.

Soccer – Yesterday Landon Donovan abruptly decided to retire from soccer at the end of the current MLS season. Donovan scored the game-winner in the MLS All-Star game to beat Bayern Munich 2-1 on Wednesday night and will try to lead the LA Galaxy to an MLS title before his playing career ends.
