2016-17 NBA Win Totals Update: Which Teams are Close to Clinching?

NBA Win Totals are a great way for both bettors and non-bettors alike to see how much a team has over-performed or under-performed during a given season. At this point of the season, there are roughly 10 games remaining for each team and there are still Over/Unders to be determined for 22 of the 30 teams. Here’s the latest update as of March 26 at 11 am ET:

The Rockets, Nuggets, and Wizards have had successful years based on expectations and have already gone OVER their season win totals. On the other end of the spectrum, the Knicks, Pistons, Clippers, TWolves, Blazers, and Magic have already clinched the UNDER, meaning they’ve under-performed severely this season.

As for the top teams, the Cavs need to win out to go over, so it looks like they’ll be going UNDER. The Warriors will need to go 9-1 in their last 10 games to go OVER, which is doable but tough without Kevin Durant. The Spurs have steadily and quietly taken care of business and look certain to go OVER.

Before the season, our analysis provided 5 teams with value:

  1. Brooklyn Nets Over 20.5
  2. Los Angeles Clippers Under 53.5
  3. New York Knicks Under 40.5
  4. Sacramento Kings Over 32.5
  5. Indiana Pacers Under 44.5

The Clippers and Knicks have already easily sealed the UNDER, and the Pacers also looked poised to go UNDER. The Nets and Kings both still have a chance to go OVER, but it looks more likely that they’ll both go UNDER as well.

Are you anxiously awaiting on one of the remaining 22 teams? Feel free to leave your thoughts and comments below.
