2016-17 Champions League: Group Stage Betting Preview

The 32-team field for the best teams around Europe has now been set, and the 2016-17 Champions League Group Stage will begin September 13th. Below shows the odds to win each group as well as odds to advance via CRIS, and I’ve included some value picks you can find at 5Dimes:

Arsenal at +150 to win the group looks pretty good, especially considering PSG is weaker than last season and have already dropped a domestic league game. The first game of this group is Arsenal at PSG, so if the Gunners can get at least a draw there, they’ll be the new group favorites.

Dynamo Kiev to advance at +150 looks intriguing, but I do like Benfica and Napoli to get through, and Benfica to win the group is also appealing. Over at 5Dimes, Benfica is listed at +185 to win Group B, and I think at those odds there’s definitely some value.

Barcelona to win the group and Man City to finish 2nd is really the only plausible outcome here.

Just like in Group C, it should be Bayern followed by Atletico in Group D.

Monaco or CSKA Moscow could definitely advance from this group, and I like the value on Leverkusen at +190 to win the group outright. Tottenham being the favorites to win the group doesn’t give me a whole lot of confidence although they probably have the most talent in the group.

Real Madrid wins the group, followed by Dortmund, so more big faves are pushing through.

At first glance, Leicester City at -333 to advance is noteworthy. It’s still hard to gauge how good they are, and although they’re in a somewhat easy group, I wouldn’t be too keen to jump on the newcomers to advance, and like Club Brugge at +185 to advance.

Juventus should win the group, and at 5Dimes you can get Sevilla at just -200 to advance. I don’t normally like taking these bigger favorites to advance, but at -200 I think that’s too good to pass up.
