Who Will Kyrie Irving Play For in 2017-18?

August 5th Update

BetOnline decided to go nuts last week and posted odds for every potential team that Kyrie Irving may go to for the 2017-18 regular season. They also initially posted other countries (North Korea) and planets (Mars) for some reason, but have taken them down.

The Suns have obviously made a huge push and are now +250 to get Kyrie Irving for the opening game of next season with the Cavs at +195.

Original post below

On Friday (7/21) afternoon, Brian Windhorst of ESPN broke news that Kyrie Irving had requested a trade from the Cavaliers. This sent NBA fans into a frenzy and speculation on where he would go.

The teams that Irving reportedly would want to go to are San Antonio, Miami, Minnesota and New York. Luckily it didn’t take the betting market long to post odds on Kyrie Irving’s team for 2017-18, and BetOnline posted these:

However, later on Friday night, BetDSI posted their own odds on where Irving would land and they were much, much different. In fact, the odds were so off from BetOnline that BetDSI took them down by Saturday morning. They likely took some bets on the Cavs +1000 even though limits are usually very low for these prop bets (~$100 to $500 max). Despite odds being so far off from BetOnline, they re-opened on Sunday morning with the Cavs still +800 to keep Kyrie.

Here’s a look at each books’ opening and current odds on where Irving will play on opening day 2017-18.

BetOnline seems to be souring on Irving’s chances to stay with the Cavs. He opened -300 to remain in Cleveland but is now at +100. It appears that BetOnline and BetDSI may eventually find a common ground.
