2014 Kentucky Derby Odds

The 140th Kentucky Derby odds are up and California Chrome has emerged as a clear favorite to win the race this year.  We consistently highlight the importance of shopping for the best line, and the table below compares odds from CRIS, Sportsbook.com, and Bovada. The betting percentages are taken exclusively from CRIS.

The race is scheduled to start at 6:24 PM EDT on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Churchill Downs.

The biggest movers in terms of future odds at CRIS have been Intense Holiday (+1815 to +805), Samraat (+2015 to +1415), Vicars in Trouble (+1831 to +3056), Tapiture (+3015 to +1215), and We Miss Artie (+4382 to +5250). Intense Holiday and Tapiture haven’t been the most popular horses in terms of number of bets, but their odds to win have improved greatly.

There’s also been some interesting movement in prop bets and matchups prices. Last week the juice on the “Under 2:02:50 Winning Time” was -115, but now it’s at -200.

The “No” on “Will there be an Inquiry” moved from -600 to -800 before settling at its current price of -700..

As for matchups, California Chrome was -180 over Wicked Strong last week but has moved to heavy -250 favorites. General a Rod has also seen heavy movement, going from -115 to -200 in its matchup against We Miss Artie.
