NBA Betting Trends: All-Star Game

Although many people’s attention will be focused on the Academy Awards tonight, the sports world will be tuned into TNT for the All-Star game in Orlando, Florida. The Western Conference team will be coached by the Thunder’s Scott Brooks while the Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau will be behind the bench for the Eastern Conference squad.

The city of Los Angeles dominates the starting lineup for the West as the Clippers’ Chris Paul and Blake Griffin will join Kobe Bryant and Andrew Bynum of the Lakers. They will be accompanied by the Thunder’s dynamic forward Kevin Durant.

The East squad features many familiar faces with Derrick Rose and Dwyane Wade making up the frontcourt while LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Dwight Howard round out the starters.

The Eastern Conference team opened as a 2.5-point favorite at CRIS and, according to Sports Insights’ NBA Betting Trends, are currently receiving 66% of all spread bets but just 44% moneyline bets. This lop-sided betting percentage has moved the line 1.5 points and currently sits at -4 at a majority of the market setting books.

While a majority of the marketplace is offering this game at -4, there are books still offering lines at -3.5 including Olympic (The Greek) and Legendz. This once again exemplifies the importance of shopping for the best line.
