Recapping Last Week

Last week’s NBA Marketwatch “Game to Watch” selection, the Golden State Warriors, picked up a huge 104-97 win at home over the streaking Los Angeles Clippers. Led by Monta Ellis (32 points) and David Lee (24 points, 13 rebounds), the Warriors shot 45.8% from the floor and 39.1% from beyond the arc to sink Chris Paul and the road favorite Clippers.

With the Warriors getting 2.5 points (Cris), Golden State comfortably covered the spread to improve NBA Marketwatch to 3-5 on the season.

Charlotte Bobcats vs. San Antonio Spurs

With the 2011-12 NBA season back in action after the prolonged All-Star break, the Charlotte Bobcats (4-29, 2-17 away) travel to the AT&T Center to take on the San Antonio Spurs (24-11, 13-2 home), with tip-off set for 8:30 PM ET.

Despite owning the worst record in the NBA, the Bobcats have actually performed relatively well in certain scenarios against the spread this season. Of the 16 occasions in which Charlotte has been a double-digit underdog, Michael Jordan’s bunch have posted a respectable .500 record (8-8).

Furthermore, with young guns like D.J. Augustin (12.9 PPG, 6.5 APG), Gerald Henderson (14.9 PPG) and former UConn star Kemba Walker (13.0 PPG) in the rotation, Charlotte’s youthful exuberance could play to their advantage tonight against the Spurs, who boast one of the NBA’s oldest starting lineups.

According to Sports Insights’ NBA Betting Trends, San Antonio opened as a 14-point favorite at the market-setting Cris sportsbook and is currently receiving 77% of all spread bets.

As a result of the hugely lopsided and continued hammering of home favorite San Antonio, the line has increased to Charlotte +14.5 (Cris).

Further strengthening our selection, as a public underdog on the road who is getting double-digit points, Charlotte fits the historically profitable criteria noted in our 2011-12 Betting Against the Public in the NBA article.

The line history graph below, which is available to all Premium and All-Pro Combo members, shows how the Spread Betting Trends and betting system plays have affected line movement for this game at Pinnacle.

Currently, most all books are showing this game at 14.5 points, however, remember to Shop for the Best Line before placing your bet as this could change before tip-off.

We are fading the home favorite Spurs and going with the underdog Bobcats to pick up the big road cover and keep NBA Marketwatch on the winning path.
