Sports Marketplace – NHL Edition

We had a rough start in our first week of the NHL Marketwatch going 0-1, with the Coyotes losing on the road to the Rangers. Rangers star, Marian Gaborik, led the way in the their 5-2 victory over the Coyotes, scoring two goals with one assist. The Coyotes’ net minders struggled against the talented Rangers, with Ilya Bryzgalov leaving the game after giving up four goals and earning a .636 save percentage and backup, Jason LaBarbera, faring a little better giving up one goal with a .923 save percentage.

Hockey can be a very profitable sport to bet on when you base it off moneyline odds, especially when betting underdogs. The “plus odds” is a reason that NHL moneyline dogs can show value over time. Most people like to win – thus overvaluing winning teams. Our selections on moneyline underdogs will normally hit at less than 50%, but the “plus odds” payoff makes it a profitable investment.

Sports MarketWatch – NHL Games to Watch

Columbus Blue Jackets +115 over San Jose Sharks

In tonight’s game, the (10-4-1) San Jose Sharks will travel to the (7-5-1) Columbus Blue Jackets to continue their 5-game winning streak and further assert themselves as one of the best in the league, and the solid Blue Jackets will try to take advantage of their home ice. After coming off a 5-4 rally to beat the 4th in points Washington Sunday, the Rick Nash led Blue Jackets will look for another big win against another league point leader.

The Sharks opened as a -120 favorite at Pinnacle, but has since dropped to -116 with a resounding 70 percent of the public taking the Sharks in moneyline bets. CRIS (6-5-1)  triggering a steam move on the Blue Jackets, along the reverse line movement we like to see, we will take the Blue Jackets to upset the Rangers at home.
