SportsMarketplace – NBA Edition

As a Duke alum, I root for all the Blue Devils who make the NBA.  But itdoesn’t take a scientist to figure out that when JJ Redick scores more pointsthan Dwight Howard, Orlando is not in for a good day.  That’s what happenedlast Wednesday in Denver, as Superman’s 8 points and 5 turnovers really told thetale of the Magic’s 115-97 loss to the Nuggets.  Jameer Nelson and RashardLewis combining for 8 points didn’t help either, and we lost another game on ourjourney to get back to the black.

Los Angeles Clippers -3 over Chicago Bulls

January for the Clippers began with a 4-game winning streak.  Being theClippers, however, they followed it up with a 4-game losing streak.  Still, they’ve won seven of their last eight home games, the only loss coming by 1point against the LeBron’s Cavaliers.  If you knew the Staples Center wasbeing that kind to both of Los Angeles’ NBA franchises, then kudos to you.Tonight they’ll stay at home to face a Bulls team that had also won 4 in a rowbefore getting trounced at Golden State on Monday.  A flu bug has been anissue of late, however, so they’ll probably be missing at least swingman JohnSalmons tonight, and maybe Brad Miller as well.  Kirk Hinrich and Luol Denghave also felt the effects.

The Clippers opened as 4-point favorites atboth CRIS and Pinnacle, but the Public knows LA’s B-Team more as a dysfunctionalfranchise than as a 2009-10 NBA team.  Chicago is getting 62% of spreadbets, and this backing has pushed the line down to 3.5 at most offshoresportsbooks.  Not only do we like betting against the public on a hot hometeam, but we’ve also seen some sharp money fall on the Clippers.  A SmartMoney play was triggered on Los Angeles by Sportbet (+3.58 Units Won), and we’vealso found a valuable extra half-point hanging loose on the market.  Go andgrab it at BetUS.
