SportsMarketplace – NBA Edition

New week, same story for NBA Marketwatch.  Chris Paulhad 14 points and 13 assists in a trip back to the Hornets’ short-lived homecity.  They briefly played in Oklahoma City while the New Orleans wasrecovering from Hurricane Katrina, and they looked comfortable in this one, winning 97-92.  In our other game, the Grizzlies put up an absolute stinkerin Utah.  Facing a Jazz team without their star point guard, none of theMemphis starters were able to hit the 20-point mark, and they lost117-94.

Orlando Magic+5.5 over Denver Nuggets

The Magicheaded into last weekend in a pure panic, having lost four straight to EasternConference less-thans Toronto, Chicago, Washington and Indiana.  Stan VanGundy has to hope they’ve righted the ship, as their next six days include gamesat the Nuggets, Blazers and Lakers.  Two wins in a row, on the back of twodominant quarters, may have them believing again.  They outscored the Hawks37-16 in Saturday’s second quarter en route to a blowout win, and last nightthey manhandled the Kings 33-10 in the final quarter to take the roadvictory.  Denver has had to make do without some of their stars recently, but both Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups are back in action for a verydeep, full-strength Nuggets team.

Thereisn’t a whole lot jumping out at us from theNBA market today, so this will be our only featured game.  Fortunately, it’s screamingvalue.  The Nuggets began as 4-point favorites at CRIS  They arecurrently solid Public favorites as well, receiving 62% of spread bets and58% of parlays and teasers.  That’s part of the reason the line hasgrown all the way to Denver -5.5, but not the only reason. Two Steam Moves have come in from by far the worst-performing sportsbook ofthe season in NBA Steam, CRIS (-39.18 Units).  Fading systems can be just asvaluable as fading the public at times, and it looks goodhere, as the poorly-performing Steam has given Orlando some extra points.  In addition, we’veseen a Smart Money play triggered by Legendz (+1.55 Units Won).  Play on DwightHoward and the Magic to keep it tight tonight in Colorado.
