Kansas City Royals +100 over Detroit Tigers

In this week’s matchup, the visiting Tigers send right-hander Rick Porcello  (11-6, 4.50 ERA) to the mound in the opening game of a three game set in Kansas City. Despite these mediocre numbers, Porcello was scorching hot during the month of July, going 5-0 with a 3.06 ERA, while allowing an opponents batting average of just .240.

The Royals counter with right-handed veteran Felipe Paulino. The 27-year old fireballer (average fastball clocking in at 95 mph) has been quietly efficient this season with a 4.20 ERA and nearly one strikeout per inning, but poor run support has contributed to his 1-8 record.

The Tigers opened as -120 favorites at CRIS and are currently receiving 78% of moneyline bets. Despite being favored, the line has dropped from -120 to -110, indicating sharp money has taken the Royals.

The lopsided betting percentages make this game a candidate to be one of today’s MLB Square Plays, which are +17.1 units on the season.

In addition, the Tigers currently sit atop the AL Central standings with a 59-52 record while the Royals once again find themselves playing the role of cellar dweller with a 48-63 mark.

On the season Detroit is 6-3 against Kansas City and have won five of their past six meetings.
