Recapping Sweet Sixteen

The Sweet Sixteen wasn’t very sweet for Sports Marketwatch, with the selections getting swept, 0-2.  The Public continued its winning ways during the NCAA Tournament and our “contrarian value” selections continued to under-perform.  Let’s hope we can eke out a little more value in the sports marketplace during the rest of the weekend.

Pittsburgh -2 over Villanova

After Villanova’s high-profile win over Duke, a lot of people are jumping on Villanova’s bandwagon.  With two-thirds of the bets landing on Villanova in a heavily-bet NCAA game, Pittsburgh has some line value.  The line opened at Pitt -3 but the constant barrage of bets has moved the line to Pitt -2.  Pittsburgh is one of the nation’s top teams and looks like a value giving just 2 points.  Villanova has seemingly “come out of nowhere” so let’s sell Villanova at it’s recent peak, perhaps riding the Big East wave a little too high.
