Marketwatch took Portland on the road getting two points last week.  The Magic were without Dwight Howard, and they wound up losing the game 89-85, giving Portland (and Marketwatch) the solid road win.

New Jersey Nets (+6) over Boston Celtics

Another “ugly” pick this week as most sports bettors would look at this game and think that the Celtics are a lock.  In fact, the Nets are only getting 15% of all spread wagers for this game.  The public perception for the Celtics has likely increased after they dominated the Milwaukee Bucks at home yesterday, and only gave up 56 points in the process (a new franchise record).

There are many factors that point to the Nets as a good value play tonight.  The betting percentages favor our contrarian strategy, but we also like taking home dogs AND we like going against teams that are playing on back-to-back nights.  In this case, New Jersey fits both situations.

There are also Betting System indicators that point to the Nets as well.  There are two positive Smart Money plays and a positive Steam Move triggered in favor of the Nets.  The Smart Money plays were triggered at Nets +5 points, and the Steam Move was triggered at Nets +5.5 points.  With all of the public action coming down on Boston, be sure to log in to Sports Insights to see if you can snag the extra half-point before the game starts.
