Sports Marketplace – MLB Edition

Recapping Last Week

Marketwatch took our second loss of the season last week after Raul Ibanez’s eighth inning, RBI-single that broke a 4-4 tie against Atlanta. Philadelphia held on for a one-run victory, dropping Marketwatch to 5-2 on the year.

Washington Nationals +136 over Baltimore Orioles

In our first interleague edition of the season, Washington sends Jason Marquis (5-1, 3.54 ERA) to the mound to take on Baltimore and starter Jake Arrieta (5-1, 4.03 ERA).

Marquis has been solid all year, giving up more than three runs only once in eight starts.

After a slow start, Arrieta has pitched very well in his last six starts, posting a 4-0 record and 2.75 ERA over that span.

Following an early line adjustment, Baltimore opened as a -150 favorite at Pinnacle and has received exactly half of all moneyline wagers. Even though the betting has been dead even, the line has dropped to -145, an indicator that sharp money is backing Washington.

Sports Insights’ Betting Systems triggered a Steam Move at Pinnacle (+34.45 units) on Washington, explaining the slight reverse-line movement. Steam Moves at Pinnacle are currently our #1-ranked MLB Betting System, so we’ll follow this play, shop for the best line and take the Nationals at the best number on the board.
