Sports Marketplace – MLB Edition

Recapping Last Week

Our first loss of the season was a tough one, as Detroit held a 5-2 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. However, the Cleveland bats went to work, scoring three runs in the seventh to tie the game. Carlos Santana buried any chance of a win for the Tigers, and Marketwatch, with a grand slam in the home half of the ninth, giving Cleveland a 9-5 victory.

Atlanta Braves +133 over Philadephia Phillies

For the second time this season, Marketwatch has highlighted this NL East rivalry as our Game to Watch.

Atlanta, 10-3 in their last thirteen games, sends Derek Lowe (2-3, 3.72 ERA) to the mound against Cliff Lee (2-2, 3.66 ERA) and the Phillies, who are currently tied with the Indians for the best record in the majors at 21-9.

Philadelphia opened as a -151 favorite at Pinnacle and is currently a solid public favorite, garnering 79% of spread bets, 62% of moneyline bets and 73% of parlay wagers. Despite the lopsided betting percentages, the line has dropped to -141, a sign that sharp money has fallen on the road underdogs.

Sports Insights’ Betting Systems agree, triggering a Steam Move at Pinnacle (+16.38 units) on Atlanta, convincing us to bet against the public, shop for the best line and take the Braves.
