Sports Marketplace – MLB Edition

Recapping Last Week

Marketwatch lost last week in eerily similar fashion to the previous week. For the second straight game, we watched the Mets blow eighth-inning leads, then give up three-runs in the top of the ninth inning. Either way, we’re currently on a two-game losing streak and look to right the ship today.

Houston Astros +143 over Atlanta Braves

Atlanta, winner of three-straight games, begins a four-game series in Houston tonight as they try to track down Philadelphia in the NL East. Tonight’s starter, Tim Hudson (4-5, 4.14 ERA), has struggled in his past five starts, posting an 0-3 record and 6.66 ERA.

Houston, who currently owns the worst record in the league, will counter with rookie Aneury Rodriguez (0-3, 5.28 ERA). Rodriguez, who joined the starting rotation at the beginning of May, has a 4.95 ERA in seven starts.

Atlanta opened as a -166 favorite at Pinnacle and is currently receiving 73% of runline bets and 71% of moneyline wagers. However, the line has moved in the opposite direction of the betting percentages, dropping to -146, suggesting sharp money has come down on Houston.

Sports Insights’ Betting Systems have triggered a Smart Money Play at SIA (+3.57 units) and a Steam Move at Pinnacle (+21.33 units) on the Astros, indicating that, even as big underdogs, there is value with Houston.
