NCAA Football Opening Line Report Week 13

NCAA Football Opening Line Report Week 13

This past weekend was tough on contrarian sports investing in football, with both the NFL and NCAA Football posting negative results.  This was bound to happen however — and SportsInsights’ College Football  Square Plays remain strongly positive, with a 67% winning percentage and +16 units.

The opening lines are out for this coming week’s college football games, and depending on what sportsbook you use, you may want to check out the current line movement and the latest lines – based on our Opening Line Report below.  Please visit our blog and read our series of Sports Marketwatch articles for updated information during the week.

This week’s early opening line action features two games with huge implications for the National Title.

Auburn vs. Alabama

Former #1 Alabama (currently #9) will be a tough test for the nation’s current #2 ranked team: Auburn.  The oddsmakers have made Alabama a 3.5 point favorite at home, but most bets are coming down on visiting Auburn.  Even with the majority of bets taking Auburn, early sharps have pushed the line to Alabama -4. This should be a great game and a huge challenge for Auburn’s national title hopes.

Team # Bets Spread % Open Current
#2 Auburn 2570 71% +3.5 +4
# 9 Alabama 17% -3.5 -4

Boise State vs. Nevada

Nevada poses a threat to Boise State.  Over the past few weeks, Boise State has been favored by about 30-35 points as it chases its National Title hopes.  This week, Boise State is favored by two touchdowns and hopes to move up in the National Title rankings, with several other big games (like Auburn-Alabama, above!) going on this weekend.  Early action has been heavy on Boise State, with a large number of bettors getting down early on the favored Boise State team.

Public opinion and public perception both favor the higher-ranked team, but “early line movement off of” the opening line suggests that some big money is coming in on the team the public hates.

Team # Bets Spread % Open Current
#3 Boise State 1970 81% -15.5 -14.5
# 19 Nevada 19% +15.5 +14.5
