NBA Playoffs Tip-Off Tonight

NBA Playoffs Tip-Off Tonight

The NHL playoffs started just a few days ago — and today, the NBA playoffs get underway.  The same goes for the NBA –as what we wrote about for the NHL playoffs: contrarian approaches work even better during the heavily-watched playoff seasons of major sports.  There is growing interest as the playoffs begin — which means more casual bets.

Let’s take an early look at  today’s games.  Note that the first game tips off in the early afternoon, eastern time.

  • No surprise, but both Chicago and Miami opened as double-digit favorites, at home (versus Indiana and Philadelphia, respectively).
  • In early betting action, the public doesn’t mind giving that many points, with both heavy home favorites gathering more than two-thirds of the bets.
  • Our analysts will be studying these games to determine if smart money is on one or both of the big visiting dogs in these games.

Tonight’s NBA Tipoff program featuring a tour of the African American Museum in Atlanta in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King’s Birthday was one of the most profound programs I have seen. It was an outstanding program worthy of an Emmy. For this show to have been given by sportscasters was a stroke of genius. I am a fan of NBA Tipoff forever.
