Focus on the NBA Finals
This morning, we took an early look at the NBA marketplace — as the NBA Finals gets set to tip-off this evening. Interestingly, although the Miami Heat is favored in Game 1, the public is leaning towards Dallas. The betting has evened out a bit, but the bets are still 58% / 42% leaning towards Dallas.
In addition to the sports marketplace, for the playoffs, we also like to study different angles and potential betting trends. In the past, we have reviewed a book, “Who Will Win the Big Game?” — which focuses on a statistical analysis of factors related to sports psychology. Below is an excerpt, and here is a link to the book’s blog. In general, the factors the authors study favor the Heat to win the championship.
Based on this research, we focused on several championship characteristics that might help predict the winner of the N.B.A. finals, which start Tuesday night in Miami.
Last year’s analysis highlighted leadership factors and correctly predicted that the Lakers would win the championship.
