Sports Marketplace – MLB Edition
Marketwatch
crept back toward the black last Tuesday as the Rockies stole one in the tenth
inning at San Francisco. Both Jason
Hammel and Barry Zito pitched gems, giving up one run each and striking out 13
total batters over a combined 13.2 innings. Colorado
broke through in the top of the 11th, as a Clint Barmes base knock to
shallow left scored the game winner. The
2-1 victory moved the Rockies one game ahead of the Giants in the NL West and
gave us a big hit.

Sports MarketWatch – MLB Games to Watch
Cincinnati Reds +114 over San Francisco Giants
In tonight's matchup, the Giants send Matt Cain (4-4, 2.36 ERA) to the mound
as they take on the Reds and the National League's most prolific offense. Cain,
who ranks third in the NL in opposing batting average (.192), pitched very well
in his last outing, surrendering only one run in eight innings against the
Rockies. The Reds counter with rookie Sam LeCure, who is 1-1 with a 3.92 ERA in
two career major league starts.
San Francisco opened as a -140 favorite at CRIS and is a
slight public favorite, currently garnering 55%
of moneyline bets. Even though public bets are favoring the Giants, the line has
shrunk to -130 at CRIS, indicating big bets are backing the home underdog.
Sports Insights' Betting Systems also like the Reds, triggering a Steam Move on
Cincinnati at Olympic (+8.9 units). Marketwatch likes taking home underdogs,
especially with reverse-line moment and a strong move showing value.
