Sports Marketplace – NBA Edition

Recapping Last Week

Marketwatch suffered our first loss of the season last week when the Cavaliers weren’t able to cover the 8-point spread when they lost by 15 to the Orlando Magic.

Phoenix Suns -2 over New York Knicks

Amare Stoudemire will make his return to Phoenix tonight in what most expect to be a high-scoring affair.

Phoenix is only 2-6 since they made drastic changes to their roster by way of a trade with Orlando.  Meanwhile, many are buying into the Knicks being “reborn” and returning to relevance in the tough Eastern Conference.

Phoenix opened as a 1.5-point favorite at CRIS and is only receiving 21% of spread bets and 19% of moneyline wagers. The public money is backing the Knicks, however the line has moved to -2.5 at CRIS. This reverse-line movement has triggered many Smart Money Plays and Steam Moves on the Phoenix Suns.

The low betting percentage on the Suns could also make them an NBA Square Play, which are currently 43-26 (+13.7 units) on the season.

The line is at -2.5 at many books, but with the late start time of 10:35 PM ET, be sure to do some line shopping and grab the best number possible.
