Detroit Tigers -108 over Cleveland Indians

In our fifth game of the season, Detroit will send Max Scherzer (4-0, 3.19 ERA) to the mound as the Tigers go on the road to take on division-rival Cleveland. Scherzer has pitched very well in his last four starts, highlighted by eight shutout innings against Chicago in his most recent appearance five days ago.

Cleveland opens this weekend’s homestand against Detroit as the biggest surprise of the young 2011 season. The Indians have jumped out to a 4.5-game lead in the AL Central and own the best run differential in the majors, having outscored their opponents by 41 runs.

Jeanmar Gomez (0-1, 7.36 ERA) will get the ball tonight for Cleveland as they shoot for their fourth consecutive win. Gomez struggled in his first two appearances of the season, surrendering six runs in 7.1 innings of work.

Detroit opened as a -113 favorite at Pinnacle and the public betting is very split, with 49% of moneyline wagers currently taking the road favorites. Sports Insights’ Betting Systems triggered a Steam Move at Pinnacle (+13.43 units) on the Tigers, suggesting there is value with Detroit.

At the time of publication, a scan of the sports marketplace showed 5Dimes offering the best number at -108, so make sure to login to your Sports Insights account, shop for the best line and grab the Tigers as we look to stay undefeated on the season.
