Sports Marketplace – MLB Edition

Recapping Last Week

Riding a strong performance from Luke Hochevar, Marketwatch earned its second straight victory, improving to 9-7 (+3.09 units) on the season. Hochevar gave up only one run and three hits over seven strong innings, leading Kansas City to a 2-1 win over Minnesota.

Cincinnati Reds +110 over Atlanta Braves

In this week’s matchup, Atlanta sends Jair Jurrjens (12-3, 2.26 ERA) to the mound as it opens a three-game set tonight in Cincinnati. Jurrjens, whose numbers have him in the thick of the NL Cy Young race, struggled in his last start, giving up six runs in five innings of work against the Nationals.

Cincinnati counters with Bronson Arroyo (7-8, 5.57 ERA) who has been terrible in his last three starts, going 0-2 with an 8.66 ERA over that span.

Atlanta opened as a -115 favorite at Olympic and is currently receiving 87% of runline wagers and 86% of moneyline bets.

Despite being an overwhelming public favorite, the line has dropped to -110 at Olympic, indicating sharp money has taken the Reds, causing the “reverse-line movement.”

The extremely lopsided betting percentages also make this game a candidate to be one of today’s MLB Square Plays, which are +16.1 units this season.

At the time of publication, Sports Interaction was offering the Reds at +110, so, as always, make sure to shop for the best line, follow the sharp money and grab underdog Cincinnati, at home.
