Sports Marketplace – MLB Edition

Recapping Last Week

In our last game, Marketwatch got a gem from Dan Haren, who gave up only two hits in a complete game shutout against the Tigers and Justin Verlander, earning Los Angeles a 1-0 victory over Detroit.

Kansas City Royals +115 over Minnesota Twins

After last week’s game highlighted a matchup between aces Dan Haren and Justin Verlander, this week’s contest between Luke Hochevar (5-8, 5.46 ERA) and Nick Blackburn (7-6, 4.24 ERA) includes two starters who have had problems recording outs this season.

Hochevar has struggled to an 8.27 ERA in his last four outings while Blackburn has been even worse, posting a 12.15 ERA in his last three starts.

Minnesota opened as a -127 favorite at Pinnacle and is currently receiving 80% of monyeline wagers. Due to the lopsided betting percentages, we have circled this game as a possible MLB Square Play candidate, a Betting System that is +28.7 units this season.

A Steam Move at Pinnacle (+36.3 units) was triggered on the Royals as well, convincing us to bet against the public and take Kansas City at the best possible number.
