Sports Marketplace – MLB
Edition
Marketwatch came out on both sides of one-run games
Tuesday. Seattle's Ichiro Suzuki hit a two-run homerun, powering the Mariners
and Marketwatch to a 4-3 victory. San Diego scored four runs in the top of the
ninth inning, but came up one run shy in an 11-10 loss to Colorado, giving us a
split for the day.

Sports MarketWatch – MLB Games to
Watch
Colorado Rockies +139 over St. Louis
Cardinals
With eleven games left in the regular season, the Colorado Rockies hold a
3.5-game lead in the NL Wild Card standings over the streaking Atlanta Braves.
The St. Louis Cardinals currently enjoy a 9.5-game lead in the NL Central and
have reduced their magic number to one heading into tonight's game. The Rockies
have won all four matchups against St. Louis this season, and the push they are
receiving from Atlanta could be enough to motivate them against the Cardinals
and Chris Carpenter.
St. Louis opened at -153 at Pinnacle and the line has shrunk to -145. The
Cards are receiving huge public backing, garnering 62% of runline wagers and 76
% of moneyline wagers. Canbet (+24.7 units) triggered a Steam Move on Colorado
at +135, and, at the time of publication, multiple sportsbooks are offering
+139, giving even better value to the Rocks. Colorado is at home, has more to
play for than the Cardinals and has a big-time Steam Move behind them.
Colorado +139 (CRIS)
Chicago Cubs +153 over San Francisco
The San Francisco Giants
were dealt a heart-breaking loss last night when Jeff Baker hit a two-out,
two-run homer off closer Brian Wilson in Chicago's 3-2 victory. The Giants have
fallen to third in the NL Wild Card Standings, four games back with only nine to
play. Tonight they hope ace Tim Lincecum (14-6, 2.47 ERA) can help shake off the
sting of yesterday's loss. The Cubs will counter with Carlos Zambrano (8-6, 3.91
ERA), who is 6-2 with a 3.02 ERA on the road this season, as they continue to
play the role of spoiler.
San Francisco opened as a -163 favorite at Pinnacle and the public is heavily
behind the home team. Ninty-one percent of runline bets, 78% of moneyline bets
and 84% of parlay bets are backing the Giants, yet the line has shrunk to -156.
A Steam Move on Chicago was triggered at Phoenix (+11.2 units), a move
Marketwatch will gladly follow. Give us the Cubbies in game
two.
