Monitor Steam Moves  (Betting Syndicates)

Steam Moves are defined as sudden and drastic line movement across all sportsbooks. For example, a typical Steam Move would look something like this...the line moves from -3 to -5 at ever major sportsbooks within 30secs. What causes Steam Moves?  The majority of the time, a Steam Move is caused by a large bettor or group of bettors, sometimes referred to as a betting syndicate, placing a lot of money on one team.  They typically bet the house limits  50K-100K at multiple sportsbooks. Since the advent of sports betting, the holy grail in sports betting strategies has always been to "beat the move" (steam plays). The logic is simple enough: watch the betting lines and when you see a drastic line move "steam" (typically caused by a large movement of money) find a bookie or sportsbook that is slow to move, and bet the same number as the "wiseguy" (a person/group that has the power/money to move a line).
