Who is the Public Betting to Win Today’s Brawl at Fenway?

The storied Red Sox franchise will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of Fenway Park this afternoon and fittingly they will be taking on their longtime nemesis — the New York Yankees.

And despite both sides opening at -110, the public is consistently betting one team in this game.

From the Curse of the Bambino to Bucky Dent’s infamous home run to the Boston Massacre of 1978 to Aaron Boone’s season ending home run in 2003 and the epic 3-0 comeback the following year, these two teams have been responsible for many of baseball’s most iconic moments over the past century.

Today, those teams will looks to add yet another chapter to that storied rivalry when Ivan Nova (2-0, 4.15 ERA) takes the mound against Clay Buchholz (1-0, 9.82 ERA).

New York and Boston each opened at -110 at CRIS and, according to Sports Insights’ MLB Betting Trends, the Yankees are currently receiving 62% of moneyline bets.

The following table shows the breakdown of moneyline betting percentages from our six contributing sportsbooks:

Yankees 6286 71% 62% 71% 54% 62% 65%
Red Sox 29% 38% 29% 46% 38% 35%

This lopsided public betting has pushed the Yankees up to -126 favorites at CRIS.

The line history graph below, which is available to all Live Odds and All-Pro Combo members, shows how the moneyline betting percentages and MLB Betting Systems have affected line movement for this game at Pinnacle.

A quick look at the total reveals some interesting information as well. Despite an unusually high total of 10.5, 66% of wagers have been placed on the over. With winds of 17 mph blowing out to left-center, a majority of bettors are anticipating to see balls soaring over the green monster this afternoon.
