Weekend Sports Update: NCAAB
With the Super Bowl now history, the football season is now officially over. Sports Insights had a good, although slightly mixed, NFL season — with Best Bets (+9 units) and our popular NFL Marketwatch (70.6%) column both solidly in the black. NFL Square plays were slightly down. With football now over until the end of summer, this week’s column will focus on college basketball, with March Madness just around the corner!
We are in the thick of things during the NCAAB regular season, and the college basketball season has been a good sports investing season so far. NCAAB Square Plays and Best Bets are both positive, at 54% and 57% respectively. Sports Insights typically focuses on games that are capturing a lot of public attention — with lopsided betting action. Today, here are several games that our research models — and team of analysts — have circled as potential plays.
In early betting action, these games are the heaviest-bet games of the day so far:
- U-Conn and Syracuse is one of the biggest games of the day, with Connecticut still not commanding the respect of the public.
- Louisville-WVU is also one of the heaviest-bet games of the day.
The following game is showing the very lopsided-betting action:
- In a bit of a surprise, Duke is receiving less than 25% of the bets as a heavy home favorite versus Maryland. This game promises to gather a lot of bets — and we will be watching this game closely.
