The Green Bay Packers will meet the Pittsburgh Steelers in Dallas for Super Bowl XLV on February 6, 2011. The sportsbooks have started taking action on the Super Bowl – and SportsInsights has a very early report on the opening lines.
Pinnacle had an early “feeler” line of pick’em, with Green Bay “Packer backers” paying more in vig. So — the very early line leaned slightly to favoring the Packers.
Just a bit later, CRIS and other books opened their lines at around Packers -2 or -2.5. Early betting leaned towards the Steelers at about the 59% betting percentage level. However, betting has evened up a bit so that the betting has moved closer to 50/50.
Currently, the Super Bowl line is generally available at Green Bay -2.5 or -3. The total (for over/unders) has hovered in the 45.5 to 46 range. Please visit SportsInsights.com for ongoing analysis and sports betting tools to improve your sports handicapping methods.
