SportsInsights in the Press; plus Sunday’s Sports Marketplace

We hope you are enjoying the holiday season — and that 2011 will bring peace & joy to all!

Please check out the recent Wall Street Journal article on a “Contrarian’s Guide to Football Betting” if you haven’t already done so.  The WSJ interviewed SportsInsights’ president, Dan Fabrizio, and highlights years of NFL data that show that “betting against the Public” can give sports handicappers an edge.

ESPN’s Chad Millman revisited SportsInsights in his column for ESPN Insiders, where he reports about NFL Week 16’s Line Moves and a few selected games with contrarian sports investing value.  He also cites the academic article on the trend for Home Dogs late in the NFL Season.

Let’s see what the Sunday sports marketplace indicators say:

  • SportsInsights’ NFL MarketWatch keyed-in on the Bengals-Chargers game.  Please read the column for more details.
  • The Cleveland-Baltimore game is the heaviest-bet game of the week, and is also the most lopsided-bet game of the week, with the Cleveland Browns receiving just one out of seven bets — as 3.5-point home underdogs!
  • In NBA action, one-sided action on the Phoenix Suns is creating line value on the LA Clippers in an afternoon game.  The line opened at Clippers -1 but is now Clippers +1.

From our SportsInsights family to yours: Warm wishes for a great holiday season!
