What Sports Bettors Should Know for Monday, April 28

1. Public Money Taking the Heat

With Miami leading Charlotte three games to none, the public expects the Heat to pull off the series sweep tonight in relatively easy fashion.

At the time of publication 67% of spread bets have taken Miami, pushing the line from Heat -6.5 to -7.5 at CRIS.

2. Sharp Money on the Cubs

You don’t often hear the words “sharp money” and “Cubs” in the same sentence, but according to line movement in today’s Cubs/Reds game, sharps appear to be backing Chicago.

Cincinnati opened as -153 favorites at Pinnacle and have received 70% of moneyline bets. Normally this one-sided betting would motivate oddsmakers to make the Reds even larger favorites. However, the line has instead dropped to the current number of -132.

This reverse-line movement is often an indicator that sharp money has taken a side in a game and, in this instance, that side is the Chicago Cubs.
