NFL Playoff Betting Trends: New York Giants vs. Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers opened as a 9-point favorite at the market-setting Cris sportsbook but, according to Sports Insights’ NFL Betting Trends, is currently receiving just 40% of all spread bets. It is odd to see a favorite with such a low percentage of spread wagers, especially after the Packers flirted with an undefeated season. Undoubtedly, the public is impressed by the Giants performance in recent weeks as well as their nail biting 38-35 loss in week 13.

Back on December 4th, the Packers were 7-point favorites in New York and received an overwhelming 78% of spread wagers. In that game, Eli Manning hooked up with Hakeem Nicks on a two-yard touchdown pass with 58 seconds remaining to tie the game at 35. However, Aaron Rodgers led a Packers drive in the waning seconds to set up a game winning 31-yard field goal by Mason Crosby.

There is parity amongst the market-setting books as they all have this game available at -7.5, however Sports Interactions (SIA) has this game available at -8.5 (-115) and Bovada (formerly Bodog) is offering their line at -9 (-105). Last month we detailed the value of keeping multiple books as we continue to preach the importance of shopping for the best line.
