After Loss at Stanford, Public Still On USC; Should You Be?
Following last week’s loss to Stanford, USC dropped to #13 in the AP Top 25 and Matt Barkley’s Heisman hopes disappeared faster than a leftover drumstick in the Red Sox locker room.
The loss marked the fourth straight time the Barkley Era Trojans have fallen to the Cardinal and, coupled with the fact that USC is 0-3 Against the Spread (ATS) this season, we wondered whether it would affect their status as a weekly public darling.
At the time of publication, 79% of spread bets are on USC (-16.5 at Pinnacle) this week, indicating that bettors remain unfazed about laying points with the Trojans.
Since USC has lost to Stanford every year since 2009, we decided to fire up our Bet Labs software and see just how well the team rebounded following those losses.

09/19/2012 at 6:26 pmInteresting stuff, knowing how frequently 1-loss teams make the Natl Champ recently, I’m sure Kiffin will be looking to run the score up every game from here on out.
Though, the post-Stanford 3-year trend, while interesting, may not be the best indicator of what to expect from this team this week. Also, any analysis of last year’s UCLA game should indicate that UCLA players stopped trying mid-season.
